Archivo Gráfico™ Venezuela (AGV) is an incomplete and constantly expanding digital archive created by designer and AGI member Ricardo Báez. Specifically aimed at global graphic design enthusiasts and researchers, AGV seeks to encompass the most critical information required to understand and draw lines of investigation on the history of Venezuelan graphic design. In its current beta version, the project contemplates the rich production spanning from 1950 to 1999, with an upcoming phase expanding from 2000 to the present.

Far from a mere aesthetic chronicle, Archivo Gráfico™ Venezuela operates as an initiative of visual archaeology and cultural resistance. We approach graphic design as the living fabric of a nation's identity and political history. In the face of progressive institutional erosion and state-driven efforts toward cultural erasure and aesthetic homogenization—critically evidenced by the systematic replacement of iconic visual identities across historical museums and cultural spaces with standardized state graphics—the Archive stands as a vital counter-narrative. Preserving this production is a political act of collective responsibility: a mechanism to safeguard the plurality of our visual memory against institutional oblivion.

LAB.TIP.CCS®
Laboratorio de Tipografía de Caracas® (Caracas Type Lab®) began its research purpose in 1999 and was born as a non-profit Association in 2003. Since then it has supported events of different profiles, such as conferences, exhibitions, internships and academic calls in alliance with cultural centers, academic institutions and independent researchers. LAB.TIP.CCS® brings together people interested in the dissemination, development and teaching of visual culture close to the intricate world of typography and design. It is currently carried out by one of its founders, Álvaro Sotillo, together with the designer Gabriela Fontanillas. LAB.TIP.CCS® is also the space for publishing research efforts related to typography and design.
